http://www.spiegelfechter.com/wordpress/1094/eine-gute-frage

1608 The earliest known working telescopes appeared, credited to Hans Lippershey and Zacharias Janssen, spectacle-makers in Middelburg, and Jacob Metius.

1609 Galileo used a refracting telescope as an instrument to observe stars, planets or moons. The name telescope was coined for Galileo’s instrument by a mathematician, Giovanni Demisiani, in 1611. The name was derived from the Greek tele = ‘far’ and skopein = ‘to look or see’.

In Atlantic City, viewers could come to the convention center to see broadcasts of operations. Reports from the time noted that the realism of seeing surgery in color caused more than a few viewers to faint.

She hired them to follow me, to report my daily activities, and to proviede photographic evidence of my existence.» In The Shadow she sets the detective’s photographic account against her own observations: the observer becomes the observed. The viewer is the third witness. This search for her own identity fails to reveal a clear picture here, too. Sophie Calle’s face does not appear in any of the pictures: her figure emerges like a shadow throughout the detective’s photographs. (http://www.hausderkunst.de/englisch/aus/daten_pages/0008.html)

When location makes it a felony

Unusual Sex Charges Against Man Dropped
Felony Indecency Charges Dropped

POSTED: 12:19 pm EDT April 1, 2008
UPDATED: 2:42 pm EDT April 1, 2008

Felony indecency charges against a Bellevue man accused of lewd behavior on a deck behind his house have been dismissed, the Toledo Blade reported.Police said a neighbor in Bellevue videotaped Art Price having sex — termed as “relations” — with his picnic table on four separate occasions, WEWS-TV in Cleveland reported. Price was charged with four counts of public indecency.Usually misdemeanors, the charges were felonies in this case because Price lives within view of an elementary school and the alleged acts could have been seen by a minor, the television station reported.According to the Toledo Blade, Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler said the evidence didn’t support felony charges and other charges could be filed.

Check out Adam Rifkins new Film

look_drama_movie_poster1.jpg

http://cinevegas.bside.com

Rifkin has done something unusual here, making his whole film as if it had been viewed from hidden surveillance cameras. The cameras are the kind we all know exist but forget about—nanny cams, public spaces, etc.

The stories Rifkin weaves together are reminiscent of those in “Crash” or several Robert Altman movies. But the vignettes are well-told, and some of them even line up at the end.

Maybe the best one concerns a lothario store manager played by Hayes MacArthur, the young actor now engaged in real life to Ali Larter. Jamie McShane also is very good as a high school teacher who’s ensnared and seduced by one of his students.
